What are the qualities each international student should have…
Which students need to attend Studienkolleg (the preparatory course) for a year?
International students from non-EU countries who wish to study in Germany might need to attend a preparatory course called “Studienkolleg” for a year. This is in addition to meeting the regular admission criteria set by the university. Studienkolleg helps students bridge the gap between their previous education system and the requirements of German higher education.
After completing the Studienkolleg program, these students may be required to take an assessment exam known as “Feststellungsprüfung” (assessment test). The purpose of this test is to evaluate their preparedness for university-level studies in Germany. Depending on the results of the Feststellungsprüfung, students are then directed to specific study programs that match their level of academic proficiency and language skills.
The combination of Studienkolleg and Feststellungsprüfung ensures that international students have the necessary foundation to succeed in their chosen academic pursuits in Germany, even if their educational background differs from the German system.
