Moreover, students from China, Hong Kong, Macao (with a Special Administrative Region passport), and Taiwan (with an identity card number) enjoy this exemption. Also, students from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, and Ukraine (with a biometric passport) fall under this category. Additionally, Andorra, Brazil, El Salvador, and Honduras students are exempt, as long as they do not seek separate employment before or after their degree. However, international students from other countries not mentioned must secure a visa to commence their PhD studies in Germany.
